On Saturday 15th September, we had an enjoyable, relaxing time creating dementia muffs, both knitted and also out of material. These muffs are often found to have a calming effect on a person suffering from dementia who likes to fiddle with something, as well as helping hands to feel warm & cosy. Three of the group spent time getting to grips with the all-action sewing machine so that a lovely material muff was produced quite speedily. We had fun selecting sensory items to sew onto the muffs from a great selection of buttons, ribbons, cord, etc. & some of us tested the 2 completed muffs out afterwards. They really do feel good. When all are done, they will be given to a nursing home for others to enjoy.
