This morning we enjoyed a service of thanksgiving for harvest, for our food that comes from many parts of the world, for farmers and all involved in the food industry. Andrea linked the harvest theme with the gospel reading from Luke 17:1-18 about the ten lepers whom Jesus healed but only one of the ten who comes back to say thank you. In our lives too, we are often more prone to complaining rather than thanking. Acknowledging our many blessings and showing gratitude to others and also to God is an important part of living out our faith. Caring for the environment and taking individual responsibility in our daily lives as much as we can, was also linked to the theme of appreciation of the natural world around us.
The produce donated will be taken to the ELPIS Centre, which supports homeless and vulnerable young women.
