A very enjoyable Dorcas session on Saturday was led by Sophie McVey, who demonstrated the art of pompom wreath-making. With pompom looms and wool of many colours, we produced fluffy balls of varying sizes and attached them to circular frames, finally decorating the wreaths with ribbon, braid and organza. Multi-coloured chunky wool worked particularly well. The finished articles can be displayed at Christmas, or as a decoration at any time of the year. Thank you to Sophie, who was a delightfully relaxed tutor, patiently responding to our calls for advice! Now that we’ve got a taste for it, we might follow her example and use little pompoms instead of bows when wrapping Christmas gifts this year.
