8th December – Advent Pilgrimage

8th December 2020

At St. Andrew’s, we continued our Advent Pilgrimage on 6th December, using additional material prepared by the Royal School of Church Music, this week on the theme of Waiting. The candle that was lit for this second Sunday of Advent represents the prophets. Fraser was preaching and spoke of OT prophets who centuries earlier foretold the coming of Christ. He quoted ‘In quietness and trust is your strength’ (Isaiah 30:15) words which encourage us in our lives today.

We are grateful to the Taize Community, whose music is being used for our Advent services to meaningful effect. Gail organised the technical side of the music for our service as well as singing the Eucharistic responses herself, all of which beautifully enhanced our worship.

A Zoom coffee morning for all the congregation will take place this Saturday 12th December at 11am. Settle yourself in a comfy chair with a mug of your favourite Arabica or Darjeeling, turn on your video, unmute and get ready for a blether without a mask in sight.

Some lovely Christmas cards produced by Helen are available at the back of the church, with a list of special seasonal services and events, including a Carol Service on Christmas Eve at 5pm, at which we hope to incorporate images as well as familiar songs and bible readings. Our services will also be available on YouTube.
