For the 4th Sunday of Easter our readings were from Acts 4:5-12, 1 John 3:16-24 and John 10:11-18 with the theme of ‘I am the good shepherd’ – caring and nurturing his flock, a theme so appropriate at this time of year with our fields and hills covered with sheep and their new born lambs appearing so innocent, playful and appealing! Thus we had a version of Psalm 23 sung of course by our soloist and accompanied on piano by her father!
We had a goodly attendance at our service probably reaching the maximum permitted under the present rules which we follow assiduously! We were pleased to hear Andrea propose that after our Thursday service this week we would repair to Gavins Mill for coffee which may increase the size of the congregation as we are always thirsting after righteousness! And it is rumoured that the use of our hall on sundays for refreshment may not be far distant.
Several meetings have taken place to see when Friendship House may be reopened with the idea of starting with two days per week – Thursday and Friday and hopefully by some time in July – so we look forward to that and a modest return towards normality. We continue to explore possibilities of new music for our Liturgy which in the meantime needs to be suitable for a solo voice with a hidden harmonist singing through a radio mic from our corridor! This has worked very well with lovely, disembodied harmony! Do come along to our worship where we are able to link our service to the hall as occasion demands.
