For the first time since regular church worship ceased last March, we shared coffee after the service, and what a joy it was to be able to gather and chat in the garden! Robin M, with occasional help from his team, has kept it so fine-looking, and it was the perfect setting for the refreshments kindly provided by Robin P, Helen and Robert. Their talents also include the knowhow to organise the technical support, which enabled the service to be smoothly streamed into the hall this week.
The song, ‘Holy Spirit, Gift Bestower’ was sung during communion to a beautiful Welsh traditional tune on the recommendation of our head gardener, who had heard it the previous week at St. Columba’s-by-the-Castle in Edinburgh. Although marked ‘author unknown’ when printed in the Church Hymnary (CH4), it was in fact written by Catherine Anne Williams, a Church of England priest who is now a National Adviser for Vocations.
Harry’s sponsored walk in aid of the Beatson Centre – a place which means a lot to his family – was successfully completed in the sunshine, raising over £400. If you’d like to contribute, he’d still be pleased to collect donations, and would love to be able to reach the £500 mark on his fund-ometer!
Andrea shared news of the appointment of Kirstin Freeman as Rector of the Charges of Holy Name, Cumbernauld and St Paul & St John the Evangelist, Monklands. Kirsten was our Rector before Andrea came to us as our own dedicated priest, and we wish her many blessings in her new Charges.
