Saturday 7th – Flower and Music Festival

13th June 2025

St Andrew’s hosted a Flower & Music Festival on Saturday to celebrate the start of Milngavie Week. We chose the theme ‘Sights of Scotland’ for those who enjoy having a creative focus for their displays. This resulted in some very imaginative interpretations, including the cone on the head of the Duke of Wellington outside The Gallery of Modern Art!

Many visitors appreciated the beautiful flowers that decorated the church and enjoyed hearing music performed by young folk from the Haydock Music School. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for them to play their music in an informal and relaxed setting, which in turn helped to build confidence. For some youngsters it was the very first time they had played in public, so quite a big occasion for them.

We were delighted that donations received raised £345 for Water Aid. Thanks to all who made the event a big success, for Mary Lou who organised the musicians throughout the day, for all the flower contributions and for all who came to support the event.

The afternoon was rounded off with Geoff and Penny Haydock and two young musician friends who performed a wonderful quartet – a great way to end a very successful day!
