Along with the poppies in church, we displayed the memorial altar cross, given in memory of
‘Lieutenant Robert Wallace Lees 2nd Bn. KOSB killed in action on Sunday 3 September 1916’.
After our own Service of Remembrance in St Andrew’s, we joined the many from churches & the local community of Milngavie, gathered around the War Memorial in the village precinct for a very moving Act of Remembrance marking the 100-year anniversary of the end of the First World War. We remember the courage of all who have given their lives and we pray for peace.
‘They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.’
