St. Andrew’s book group met last week for the first time since lockdown began, via Zoom of course! The book ‘Autumn’ by Ali Smith was chosen by Jan and it was interesting to hear from Liz M that her sister had shared a flat with Ali during student days in Aberdeen. There was a great deal of head-scratching as everyone attempted to recall the contents of the book which was set back in March, but memories were mutually refreshed and it was lovely to see those who were able to participate. Thanks to Andrea for setting up the meeting.
We had been looking forward to a summer day trip to Argyll for our July meeting which was to be hosted by Liz and George but we will have to look forward to seeing them in their new home at a later date. Instead Clare has selected our book for July: ‘When all is Said’ by Anne Griffin. We will enjoy some discussion as well as seeing each other at our next zoom meeting, probably on Wednesday 15th July, even if we haven’t managed to read the book!
Gordon will choose the August book and Liz F has moved her choice ‘Three things about Elsie’ by Joanna Cannon to September & who knows, perhaps by September we may be able to make the journey to Argyll after all.
The book group is definitely back in action! Happy reading everyone!
