During Holy Week, we had the opportunity to be together at St. Andrew’s for Maundy Thursday, when we remembered Jesus sharing the Last Supper and washing his disciples’ feet, and marked his final hours in the Garden of Gethsemane. On Good Friday, the altar remained stripped and we were invited to join a moving devotional service with a liturgy of the Lord’s Passion, when the story was read from John’s Gospel, followed by a reflection with images displayed.
Then on Sunday what a delight it was to celebrate the Resurrection with our friends in church – so many that the hall was used for overspill to make sure we were all still socially distanced. The service was projected onto the hall screen, and because we have some very useful knowledge amongst members, any technical challenges were anticipated and during the service smoothly and almost imperceptibly overcome!
Thanks to the musicians and singers who provided the carefully chosen music for Friday and Sunday, to the flower arrangers for the lovely Easter displays, and to the youngest in our congregation for their creative contribution in the form of beautiful little Easter baskets.
