Robin spoke about how the scripture readings for today focus on the change that happens when the presence of Jesus is recognised, both in the lives of the disciples as they experienced the living presence of the resurrected Christ and for us in our lives today. Peter had new courage to preach the good news of the resurrection, urging people to turn from their sinful ways to the light of Christ, so that 3000 were added to the number of believers that day. After walking and talking with whom they thought was a stranger on the road to Emmaus, the disciples recognised Jesus as he broke the bread for the meal they were sharing together. We too share in the bread at our Eucharist and this is a special holy time when we may meet with Christ and see things in a different way giving us strength and hope to face the challenges in our lives and in our world today.
Post Communion Prayer
Living God, your Son made himself known to his disciples in the breaking of bread; open the eyes of our faith, that we may see him in all his redeeming work; who is alive and reigns, now and for ever.
Amen
