On Sunday we were delighted to welcome Bishop Nick to lead our service. The sun shone and after the service we were able to enjoy tea & coffee in the garden, as well as Penny’s delicious cake. It was really good to have this opportunity to chat and get to know Nick. We wish him well as he soon makes a trip back to Manchester for the final stage of his move. We pray for Nick and the family as they make this transition.
This Week
Tuesday 10am – Prayer Group in the Garden Room
Thursday 10am – Said Holy Communion followed by coffee in the church hall
Readings for next Sunday – Genesis 18:1-10, Colossians 1:15-28, Luke 10 38-end
Today’s readings – Deuteronomy 30:9-14, Colossians 1:1-14, Luke 10:25-37
Nick had encouraging words for us that ‘God is with us’ and ‘God is near’. The readings focused on love & the presence of God in our words and actions, the way we interact with those around us. In answering the question ‘Who is my Neighbour?’, Jesus tells the very well known parable of the Good Samaritan. He shows how the love of God is demonstrated in the way the Samaritan cares for a complete stranger and that we too are asked to share God’s love in the way we show love and care for others.
In fact, Nick told us how he had received much appreciated help from a stranger when he was first exploring Milngavie!
