27th September – ‘At the Name of Jesus’

3rd October 2020

We were pleased to see so many in attendance at St. Andrew’s on Sunday (the Rector’s husband was promoted to the leaders’ seating area), still managing the required physical separation, but, as Andrea noted, experiencing the grace and presence of God together, and remembering everyone who was not able to be there.

In the service, we were invited to focus on the Gospel text and the significant body of stories of Jesus which precede it, the matter of his authority, humility, and how God’s love manifested itself in the incarnation. At the centre of the Epistle reading is the well-known hymn, ‘At the Name of Jesus’, which was sung beautifully by Laura to the tune Evelyns, with the alternative music of Camberwell played at the end. If you are able to come this Sunday, you may encounter a new musical experience.

Andrea reminded us of the AGM on 18th October, held in the church. We’re hoping to set up for a Zoom option, too, for those not there in person, and there will be a Zoom Vestry meeting on 5th October to finalise arrangements.
