24th March – Palm Sunday Church Opening!

24th March 2021

We’re delighted that we can plan for the church to reopen for worship from Palm Sunday, 28th March, with sung eucharist and reading of the Passion. Andrea will record all the Holy Week and Easter services and make them available to the congregation via YouTube, especially for folks not yet able to be there in person. The Maundy Thursday 10am said eucharist will include stripping of the altar, and on Good Friday, there will be a devotional service at 2pm. Of course, last year at this time we were not allowed to meet in the church building at all – in fact a year ago this week, the first SEC provincial worship broadcast appeared, as the world started to adjust to the restrictions put in place. So at least some of us being together this Easter Day, even at a distance, will be particularly special. Potential vocal soloists have been approached, and our organist, having suffered withdrawal symptoms, is keen to fit in as much music as is manageable, to make up for its absence in the last couple of months!

The format and covid safety procedures put in place for the pandemic will remain unchanged, with sanitising stands, carefully arranged seating, and spare masks available. We are well looked after at St. Andrew’s!
