6th March – Lenten Baptism

10th March 2022

At the service this morning marking the first Sunday in Lent, we also celebrated the baptism of little Sarah Heeney and welcomed her parents Claire and David, God parents, Anne, Ged and Michelle as well as other family and friends. It was lovely to see the church so full and receive Sarah as the newest member of our church family.

Prayers and hymns had both a Lenten and Baptismal theme and we sang the Ukrainian setting for music during the liturgy to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Robin encouraged us all to take the opportunity of reviewing our baptismal vows as we enter this period of self reflection on our journey towards Easter.

During Lent, Andrea recommended the Lent Retreat material ‘Journey with Ignatius of Loyola’ provided by the Ignatian Spirituality Centre in Glasgow which can be accessed via onlineprayer.net and includes a piece of art, scripture reading, reflection and music for each day. Alternatively for those who prefer their own copy of the material as opposed to online, there are books which can be collected from the back of the church. Books are free but donations are welcome!
