Today’s Readings – Acts 7.55-end, 1 Peter 2.2-10, John 14.1-14
On Sunday, our first bible reading featured the first Christian martyr Stephen. Robin pointed out that good can come from evil in that the early Church was inspired by the heroism of Stephen, who was prepared to die for his faith and forgave his attackers, reminding us too of Jesus’ words of forgiveness on the cross.
We too often experience disappointments or problems, albeit of a less dramatic extent than Stephen, and that these too can lead to good in unexpected ways.
Robin also explored the meaning of Jesus’ famous words in John chapter 14: “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life”. One interpretation picks up on Jesus’ insistence, also reported in this passage, that He and God the Father are one. Jesus is the Way in which God the Father/Creator is present in the world, bringing Truth and Life.
