Today’s Readings – Wisdom of Solomon 12.13, 16-19, Romans 8:12-25, Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43
On Sunday Robin spoke about the parable of the weeds in the fields which look very like the good wheat. Jesus explained that the poison weeds grow entangled around the good wheat in a way that farmers find them difficult to remove without pulling up the good wheat too. In our world today there is a complex mix of good and evil existing together and sometimes it is difficult to discern what is true and right. The guidance of the Holy Spirit and the outcome of events and the choices we make, help in discerning what is God’s way. We are asked to be like the fruitful good wheat.
O God of power and might,
all good things belong to you:
sow in our hearts the love of your name,
and make us grow in the life of faith;
nurture the things that are good,
and tend them with your loving care;
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, world without end.
